That was a great coincidence, the first Skateboarding Festival in Rwanda, organized by Rwanda Skate-Aid Skateboarding took place on Sunday June 26th, final day of the Olympic Week. The Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee could not miss the chance to support this great initiative especially as skateboarding just entered the Olympic sport family. It was also the occasion to remind that beyond the sport, we are on the same wave lenght with Skate-aid that decided to integrate speeches and shows to raise the awereness of environmnental and society issues, Let’s use the sport as a tool to impact positively every single level of the society!
A first step together with the first skateboarding actor in Rwanda. Thanks to SOS Children’s Village – Kigali for hosting the event ! And Congratuation to skate-aid and its volunteer Gabu Nightolele which managed to gather both hundreds of children and a wide and diverse audience around Skateboarding, street arts, music and dance ! Thanks to Lebron Isaac and Hirwa A. Christian for their great Breakdancing show, and to Uganda Skateboard Union for their impressing performance ! We can’t wait for the next one !
