Triathlon is an Olympic sport which was introduced in Rwanda in 2011. Currently, five clubs are operating in Rwanda including Kigali Triathlon club, Muhazi Triathlon club, Zenith Triathlon club from Karongi, Run for Future club and Gisenyi Triathlon club.
In August 2013, two representatives from the International Triathlon Union conducted a three-day training conference in Kigali to teach players, coaches and technical staff the core values of triathlon.
A competition which attracted men and women was held a month later and the game has since gained popularity in Rwanda.
