Mission:
FERWAHAND is a non-profit organization whose mission is to contribute to self-fulfillment, social cohesion, improving the social welfare of Rwandans through the practice, diffusion of collective handball and the promotion of high level handball.
Vision:
Prepare a bright future where handball will be played by all categories of age in all corners of Rwanda in appropriate conditions.
FERWAHAND tournament
The handball is played everywhere in Rwanda with various categories of ages regardless on sex now FERWAHAND have 20 active members and two my-pharm-blog.com of Handball are taken into account namely indoor Handball and Beach Handball.
FERWAHAND organizes the national championship category Men and Ladies; it also organizes various tournaments throughout the sporting year, training and technical courses for coaches, referees and also to the members of the committee of the club, association affiliated.
Among these tournaments we can mention the following:
- National championship
- Rwanda Hero’s Tournament
- Rwanda U18 championship
- Handball Genocide Memorial Tournament
- Carre d’As (Final Four)
- Rwanda Beach Handball Tournament
Clubs and the national handball teams participate occasionally in regional and continental competitions.
Handball was introduced in Rwanda by the German Brothers of charities and white Father. The first official Handball match known was played at G.S de la SALLE/ Byumba in 1983 between the two teams Groupe Scolaire de Zaza and Groupe Scolaire De La Salle Byumba. With the support of these German Brothers and white Fathers, handball spread gradually in other parts of the country especially in secondary schools. Despite the presence of many teams were in 1985, the Rwandan Handball Federation (FERWAHAND) was established and the first president was voted in 1988 and then in 1992 the Federation was officially recognized by the Rwanda National Olympic Committee (CNOR), the Ministry of Justice in the time that had in its attributions Federations and Sports in general, the African Handball Confederation (CAHB), the International Handball Federation (IHF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
