Historical background

Volleyball was created in 1885 1895 at Holyoke, Massachusetts by William Morghan. It was introduced in Rwanda by Christian missionaries initially in schools, later in military camps and in rural areas. In spite of the popularity of volleyball in secondary schools, universities and military camps through different teams of different categories, the Rwanda VolleyBall Federation (FRVB) was established later in 1984.
