The RNOSC organized the National Forum for Gender Equality in Rwanda Sports Movement.

From 13th to 15th of February 2019, The Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee hosted the National Forum for Gender Equality in Rwanda Sports Movement which took place in Nyanza District.

The three-day forum was officially opened by the Minister of Sports and Culture, Hon. Espérance Nyirasafari – She urged women to work together in order to overcome challenges they face in sports.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank the organisers of the forum aimed at finding a strategic plan that will involve more women in the sports transformation of this country,” she said.

“Gender equality in sports is not a forgotten issue by the government, but we need more integration of women in decision-making bodies, not only in women’s sport, administration, but also in the decision making processes though there are challenges which are not just particular to Rwanda”.

The RNOSC President, Amb. Valens Munyabagisha: “Some of the challenges faced by women in sports included lack of investments, low turn up of women in sports especially in decision-making process in the Sports Federations they belong to.”

The IOC Member and RNOSC Vice President, Mrs. Felicite Rwemarika: “More of these more information about women in sports should be organized in order to encourage more women to get involved in the sector just like other sectors.”

The forum that concluded on Friday evening attracted 64 women participants from different sports bodies, private partners, and government officials as well as other stakeholders.

«L’égalité des sexes dans le sport n’est pas une bonne idée, mais nous avons besoin d’une plus grande intégration des femmes dans les organes de décision, non seulement dans le sport féminin, dans l’administration, mais aussi dans les processus décisionnels, mais il y a des défis qui ne sont pas seulement particulier au Rwanda ».

Le président du RNOSC, Amb. Valens Munyabagisha: “Certains des membres les plus vulnérables de l’industrie du sport, en particulier dans le processus décisionnel dans les fédérations sportives qu’ils vont être.”

Le membre du CIO et vice-président du RNOSC Felicite Rwemarika: “Plus de ces forums / dialogues sur les femmes dans le sport devraient être plus impliqués dans le secteur que les autres secteurs.” , des partenaires privés, des représentants du gouvernement et d’autres parties prenantes.

Olympic Channel and FIVB Announce Cooperation Agreement.

7th Olympic Summit on 8 December 2018 – Information for the Media.

THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (IOC) HAS CONVENED AN OLYMPIC SUMMIT ON 8 DECEMBER 2018 IN LAUSANNE.

Discussions will focus on several topics of interest and concern to the Olympic Movement, including: the Athletes’ Rights and Responsibilities Declaration, the Olympic Agenda 2020/New Norm, the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2022, ASOIF and AIOWF good governance reports and the Olympism in Action Forum, held in October 2018 in Buenos Aires.

The Olympic Summit will also discuss the progress of the International Testing Agency (ITA), six months into its existence, and will discuss the approach of the Olympic Movement to egames/sports.

The Olympic Summit involves leading representatives of the Olympic Movement. It forms part of the ongoing dialogue and consultation on important issues and subjects of significance for the future of the Olympic Movement.

IOC and Samsung extend partnership through to 2028.

THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (IOC) AND SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO. LTD, (SAMSUNG) TODAY ANNOUNCED AN EXTENSION TO THEIR GLOBAL OLYMPIC PARTNERSHIP THROUGH TO 2028.

The announcement was made in Seoul, Republic of Korea, at a signing ceremony with IOC President Thomas Bach and Jay Y. Lee, Vice Chairman at Samsung Electronics; IOC Marketing Commission Chair Tsunekazu Takeda; Dong Jin Koh, President and CEO of the IT&Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics; and Younghee Lee, CMO and Executive Vice President, Samsung Electronics. 

Samsung will continue as the Worldwide Olympic Partner in the wireless communications equipment and computing equipment category, including the ability to promote the Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and 5G features of that equipment. As part of the agreement, the IOC and Samsung will further develop their strategic digital collaboration to engage young generations around the world in order to promote the power of sport and the values of Olympism.

Samsung will continue its support beyond the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, and will support every edition of the Olympic Games through to Los Angeles 2028, as well as all the Youth Olympic Games through to 2028. Samsung will also continue to support the IOC, the National Olympic Committees and their teams. Samsung’s first Games as a Worldwide TOP Partner were the Olympic Winter Games Nagano 1998. Samsung will also continue as a Worldwide Partner of the International Paralympic Committee, extending a relationship that began in 2006.

In collaboration with the IOC and the Organising Committees, Samsung plans to continue its Athlete Phone Programme. Murekatete lands four-year deal with Washington State University Basketball team.

Rwanda international Bella Murekatete is the latest addition to Washington State University Women’s basketball team. The 18-year old penned a four-year contract.

The team announced her signing via their official Twitter handle on Thursday.

“Get ready for four years of domination in the paint. Bella Murekatete is officially a Coug. Welcome to the family. #GoCougs.”

Also commonly known as Cougars, Washington State women’s team represents Washington State University in women’s basketball. The school competes in the Pac-12 Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Youngster Murekatete had been featuring for Genesis Preparatory Academy in Richmond, Virginia since 2015 following her stellar performance at the 2015 FIBA Africa Under-16 Championship in Antananarivo, Madagascar where he was named on the All-Star Team and voted the best lasix-info.net of the tournament.

She was also part of the national U18 ladies team that claimed regional Africa Zone 5 championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to qualify for this year’s African U18 Championship, staged in Maputo, Mozambique where Rwanda finished in fourth position.

Murekatete was named in the tournament’s All-Star Team.

The Cougars host their home games at the 11,671-seater Beasley Coliseum in Pullman, Washington.

40 participants completed a three-day Sports Marketing and Tourism workshop.

The Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) organized and hosted a Sports Marketing and Tourism workshop which kicked off, 24th to 26th October 2018.

A maximum of 40 participants from the Ministry of Sports and Culture (MINISPOC), Rwanda National Olympic and sports Committee, National Sports Federations and Sports Journalists Association, took part in the workshop.

The three-day workshop was led and moderated by Mr. Idy Uyoe, an International and recognized sports consultant.

National Sports Federations were trained on the conceptual and practical elements of Sports Marketing within Olympic Sports Organizations  objectively to improve the marketing discipline within the organizations

“We met members from sports federations with in Rwanda and we had discussions specifically focusing on sports tourism on Wednesday. Sports tourism is an investment that could earn to Rwanda millions of dollars in returns,” he said.

On Thursday workshop looked at how sports of federations can engage with the private sector and stop depending on government funding,

The purpose of this model is to realize the need to move to a private-driven model. Idy also said that sports in Africa is not seen as a serious business but we need to build sports as an industry. If sports don’t have a marketing strategy, there is no way they can succeed.

Sports Organizations were trained on the conceptual and practical elements of Sports Marketing within Olympic Sports Organizations objectively to improve the marketing discipline within the organizations.

One of the trainee Emmanuel Murenzi from the cycling federation Ferwacy said that they have acquired a lot about marketing and tourism in sports and the next step is to implement what they have learned in order to attract private sponsors.

The three-day workshop was followed by a three-day “Integrated Marketing Strategy Session”, aimed at developing the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee integrated marketing strategy after which the consultant will present the final marketing strategy document.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, RNOSC president, Amb. Valens Munyabagisha urged the participants to go and implement what they learned in the workshop while sharing with their workmates in their respective federations.

Le prix de la Femme Francophone de 2018 a été décerné à Rwemalika lors du 38ème congrès de l’Association Internationale des Maires Francophones (AIMF) à Lille – France. Ce prix a pour objectif de mettre en avant le sport au service du développement des territoires.

Le prix de la Femme Francophone de 2018 a été décerné à Rwemalika Félicité et La championne tunisienne d’escrime Azza Besbes.

Le congrès se déroule du 05 au 07 Novembre sous le thème “Le sport et ses valeurs en ville”.

Créée en 1979, L’Association Internationale des Maires Francophones (AIMF) rassemble depuis plus de 30 ans les élus locaux des capitales et métropoles francophones. Son Bureau exécutif est représentatif de la diversité de ses membres.

L’AIMF est un réseau d’élus locaux à taille humaine, où se nouent des liens individuels très forts, propices à la continuité des échanges et à la circulation des idées au plus haut niveau. Elle est également l’expression de la solidarité très concrète qui unit ses membres pour construire les villes de demain. Réflexion et actions de terrain sont les piliers de l’AIMF.
